Zuhra Malik was born in New York City to parents who fled the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. She is a 2026 Periplus Fellow. She was a winner of the Banyan Review Poetry Contest. Her work has previously appeared in The Los Angeles Review, KAIROS, Qafiyah Review, and Tinderbox Poetry Journal. She has degrees in civil engineering and urban planning. She is based in Virginia.
